Self-Respect is the Key to Self-Worth

Putting others needs, feelings and desires above your own sounds selfless. However, when you act from a place of depletion, you are doing them and yourself a disservice.

Respect means “to regard highly.” Self-respect means to place yourself in high regard.

This does not mean disregarding others, but ensuring that your needs, feelings and desires are accounted for first.

A high regard for yourself (self-respect) is how you acknowledge your value (self-worth).
Worthy means have worth or value. Self-worth means you value yourself.

You warrant respect. This means you regard yourself by acknowledging your needs, feelings and desires.

Respecting yourself and feeling worthy allows you to fulfill your own needs, feelings and desires and then serve others from a place of surplus.
