Happy Halloween!

Samhain is when the veil between the worlds is the thinnest.

This is a magical holiday when your past and present meet. You can get guidance from your ancestors. Great truths can be revealed.

Samhaim marks the beginning of the wheel of the year. It is a time of great reflection and goal setting.

Think about the last couple months in particular, since fall has begun, and ask yourself:
  • Where have you struggled?
  • What has been a great victory?
  • Where are you heading? How will you get there?
  • What is one thing you can achieve by the end of the year? What is your first step?
Don’t get too bogged down in the details. Having a plan doesn’t mean you have to have it all figured out before you even begin. Use this time to recognize what you feel strongly about and focus on that.

Remember to play and have some treats!

Happy Halloween! 🎃

Courage Begets More Courage

“Courage begets more courage.” - Steven Pressfield

Once you try something new, it is easier to try something else.

Creative risk does not equal death. Set a small goal and accomplish it. Once you have the courage to do it once, you can do it again.

These small victories build your confidence and give you courage to try bigger risks. You can begin to set bigger goals because you have set up a foundation.

What is something that you need courage to try? What small step can you take now to set yourself up for success?

Never Give Up!

“If you quit once it becomes a habit. Never quit!” - Michael Jordan

Fear is what causes to to quit. Fear is what makes you think you are not worthy. Fear is what gets between us and fulfilling our creative desires.

Focus will overcome fear.

What is the one project you want to finish? How are you going to accomplish it? Break it down into small achievable pieces and then put them on your calendar.

Give yourself a deadline. It will help you focus. Take action towards you goal.

Never give up. Persistence will allow you to see your creative desire become your reality.

Grit Gets Results

“Grit is that ‘extra something’ that separates the most successful people from the rest. It’s the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality.” - Travis Bradberry

What is getting in between you and your creative dreams?

If I’m really honest, the thing most standing in my way is me. When things start to get hard or monotonous, I look at what I can change to make it “better.” This seems like a good idea until I look back and see all the ways that I could have moved forward if I simply kept my path.

This is grit. That “extra something” that gets you to your goal.

Passion. Perseverance. Stamina. You can do whatever you put your mind to.

5 Ways to Increase Clarity

My greatest struggle in launching my business was finding clarity.

I had a bunch of ideas about what I wanted to do. However, I didn’t fully understand what I had to offer, let alone be able to communicate that to my audience.

It took me a lot of time and searching to figure out how to get clear on my idea. In fact, if I’m completely honest, I’m still working on it.

However, I am learning to stop starting from scratch. So, I want to share my knowledge with you. Get your focus headed in a positive direction.

Here are 5 ways I increased my clarity to move forward in my business and creative projects:

1. Focus on purpose

Get clear on your “why.” Once you understand your motivation, you will be able to persevere when times get difficult. Your purpose will lead you toward a “game-changer” project, which you can accomplish by breaking down into achievable goals.

If you get stuck ask yourself:
  • What do I love to do?
  • What am I good at?
  • How can I serve others?
The place where these three intersect is a good indicator of your purpose.

2. Define your audience

Who is your ideal consumer? Who will benefit most from what you have to offer?

Though all types of people may come across your content, target a specific audience for best results.

3. Set your outcome

Define what you want your finished product to be.

Do you want to facilitate interaction, do you offer a service, or do you create a physical (or digital) product?

4. Be genuine

People sense authenticity. Even if you are still figuring out exactly what you offer and how you want to set up your business, you will gain exposure by being your unique self.

You don’t have to try to be like anyone else, you can pave your own path.

5. One step at a time

You don’t have to do everything at once. Take it one step at a time.

Starting a business or a big creative project is a big venture and there is a lot to learn. Give yourself some compassion as you begin this journey of great growth. You may make mistakes, and that is okay! You can learn and make better choices as you gain experience.

Getting a clear picture of what you offer will set your direction and give you a huge boost in confidence.

State Your Intention

“State your case with intention and purpose, and the result will follow suit.” - Oprah Winfrey

Moving with purpose becomes like breathing, but it takes acknowledgment and practice.

State your intention first:
  1. Why do you want to do it?
  2. What do you want the outcome to be?
Apply these questions to your goals to know what you desire and understand what you are committing to.

During this time of release, it is important be honest with yourself about your reason. It’s okay to let go of projects that you have outgrown or no longer serve you.

Once you declare your intention and purpose, the rest will manifest itself.

Uncomfortable Willingness

"Growth and healing happen when we let go of trying to be constantly comfortable and safe and instead step into uncomfortable willingness." - Heatherash Amara

It is human nature to desire safety. We want some assurance that everything is going to work out. Many of choices (or inability to choose) come from a desire to be secure and comfortable.

Anxiety often triggers when we are unsure of our path. Our minds scream that the unknown is not safe, so we’d better play it safe and keep ourselves comfortable.

However, when you sit comfortably, you are not able to move forward. After a while, your world has moved around you. You remain stuck, unable to let yourself feel uncomfortable enough to move with it.

Growth and healing stall when we remain idle. To manifest your dreams you must be willing to let go of always being comfortable. Face your fear head on and step forward with a willingness to learn and grow.

How can you take a step out of your comfort zone today?

Body. Emotion. Mind. Spirit.

“Through practicing body scan awareness meditation, we can greatly reduce the detrimental effects of stress and make our working lives pleasant and enjoyable.” ― Christopher Dines

Meditation is a concept with a wide range of ideas to what it should be. When I say meditation, I mean taking a few moments aside to be still and check in with your body, emotions, mind and spirit.

Body:
Where do you feel strong?
Where do you feel sore or stiff?
Do these feelings make sense?
Could there be an emotional block creating physical pressure?

Emotion:
What’s coming up?
Are fears clouding your ability to make decisions?
What is the source?

Mind:
Where are your thoughts?
Is your mind calm or racing?
How can you bring it back to a balanced state?

Spirit:
How is your energy level?
Are you feeling passionate or drained?
How can you increase or ground your energy to find calm?

These questions provide a full body, emotion, mind and spirit scan. By taking time to acknowledge what is coming up, you can find the source of triggers before they overload your system.

Doing this daily helps to regulate your energy. Create space for ideas to cultivate and ignite your creativity.
