Growth - November 6, 2023

I had a great day at the gate today. The weather has turned and snow is in the air. Thankfully, I am now in a lower elevation so it’s still rain.

With less traffic and fewer places for information, I take more time with visitors that desire it. I am open with recommendations because it’s important you have an idea of where you are going.

This intention is useful for any adventure you embark on. I am spending this week setting intentions for myself in both my personal and professional world.

One of my desires is to write more and share it with others. I have spent too long of my life afraid of what people think about what I think. I believe there is room for us all to coexist together. I am not afraid to have a voice and share it.

If there is ever something I share that hurts you, please do not get angry. That is not my intent. Instead, cultivate your curiosity. There is often reason behind madness, if we can only stoop to see it.

So welcome to the inner musings of my mind. We are all mad here. And beautiful.

Listening to “Love Will Come to You” by the Indigo Girls

This is poetry:

"I wish her insight to battle love's blindness
Strength from the milk of human kindness
A safe place for all the pieces that scattered
Learn to pretend there's more than love that matters”

There was once a man who stood up and said to love your neighbor as yourself. He was crucified for that belief. Was it worth it? Many would say yes. I am one of them.

Love is all that matters.

We are all humans trying to do the best we can. I see people from all walks of life when I am at the gate. It is beautiful. I appreciate every single one.

I believe that person I am talking to right now is the most important person in this moment. When I am at my gate, I look every person I talk to in the face and thank them for being here. For being here at Yosemite and in my presence. Also being there for themselves to have an adventure. I’m not always at that spot, but when I am the people who come here benefit from my service. I welcome you to a place of nature to bring your energy and hug a tree, sit by a river, be inspired by a view, climb a mountain. I am here to connect and find peace. Why are you here?

Growth is entangled with intention. If we can state our intention, we are more likely to succeed in our personal growth. Create simple goal and make it happen. This is how I fight ADHD and fear of belonging. I create a sustainable path and believe that I can walk it.

I wanted so much to believe in the good of journalism. There is a good in collecting and sharing information. This is a skill that I excel at and am committing to practicing.

I believe in my purpose with the National Park Service. I trust that I can make a difference. Connecting with nature can be the difference from anxious and calm. These places are important for all to see and experience. I want to be a service and not a barrier. I am an authority on the resource, the mental health and nervous system benefits of being in a wild place of nature, one that I am sworn to protect.

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.
