Taylor Cogar Memoir

I had a special relationship with my Papa, that’s my mom’s dad. We understood each other on a level that not many could understand. Though, my mom could, and we would have great times together the three of us. Unfortunately, Papa died the same year Z was born. He knew of her, but never got to meet her, nor her him. I wish they could have met, they would be two peas in a pod.

One of the things I believe I did that made Papa and I so close was that I listened. Now that I am older and have a little more life experience, I realize my calling is to tell stories. Papa had some fabulous stories to tell. I’ve done a memoir before and even then thought that I would love to write about my grandfather, Papa, Taylor Cogar.

So here goes!

Thank you to my mom and Uncle for all of the amazing stories, pictures, and connections! I hope to meet with lots of people over the next couple of years to collect stories and share more about this good man’s quiet life.

Papa and I on the pier at Myrtle Beach, SC. We would go every year with my Mom during spring break. I loved it! We would play putt putt and eat at the K&W cafeteria. I don’t think it is even open anymore.

This was a different year with Papa, and that’s my mom. We always had fun and explored Myrtle Beach. It is one of the reasons I knew some of the backroads that are featured in my book “Leap of Faith.” Write what you know they say, getting around traffic in Myrtle Beach was a fun detail to include in my fiction story.
