Weather Report: The Gift of Free Play

Today, it’s a full-blown snowstorm! After hours of sideways snow and wind, everything is starting to settle into a deep, heavy snowfall.

I was supposed to be at work today, but I chose to stay home. It was a 'risk versus payout' decision, and standing here in the warmth, I know it was the right one. I choose to leave the roads clear for emergency traffic and not become an emergency myself. But even in the peace of safety, there’s a restlessness—that odd feeling of being somewhere I didn't expect to be, like a moment of 'free play' you didn't plan for.

I’m learning that adjusting to a new job and a new routine takes more than just physical energy—it takes the energy of self-care. This storm isn't an interruption; it’s a permission slip. I’m processing, resting, and letting my body heal from the 'adulting' of last week. Sometimes the best 'action' for the mood is just acknowledging the restlessness and then letting it go into the soup and the stories.

Today’s forecast: Trust your decision to stay safe. If the weather has given you an unexpected moment of 'free play,' take it. The world can wait until the plows come through.

You’ve got this!
