The Stillness of the Sound - A Weather Report for the Soul

The Weather

Today I saw overcast skies over the Bogue Sound. The rain has passed, leaving behind a world that is gray, cool, and incredibly still. The water is like glass, reflecting the quiet of a landscape at rest.

The Connection

I’m standing at the edge of the water today, walking along a sandy knoll covered in oyster shells. After a week of navigating the "muddy middle" and the pressure of ever-changing routines, saying hello to a bird on the docks and feeling the calm of the sound has been a necessary reset. It’s cool out, but the biting cold of winter feels like a distant memory.

The Wisdom

There is a specific kind of healing that happens when you reach the edge of the water. Even amidst the uncertainty of the unknown and what comes next—like my upcoming transition to Cape Hatteras—standing here helps me quiet the anxieties. The calm of the sound reminds me that I don't have to have all the answers for "later" to be fully present "now." Sometimes the best way to find your path is to stop moving and let the stillness find you.

The Forecast

Today’s forecast: Find your "water’s edge." Whether it’s a literal sound or just a moment of quiet, let the stillness wash away the worry of the next step.

You’ve got this!
